A snippet of a recent sermon …

You are holy because of what Jesus as done of your behalf.  You are holy because of your relationship with the Holy One.

Incarnation:  Jesus, the Son of God, took on flesh.

Life: Jesus spoke the words of God and demonstrated the character of God. 

Death: Jesus provided redemption for sin.

Resurrection: Jesus provided victory over sin and death.

Exaltation: Jesus now sits at the right hand of the Heavenly Father.

Second Coming: Jesus will return to earth as Lord.

God does not look at your thoughts, words, actions, and declare you holy.  If God examined your thoughts, words, and actions you would not fare well.  The good news of the gospel is that God looks at you, as one who embraces the gospel, and sees the cross and the empty tomb.  You are made holy through your faith in Jesus.
