Reading the newspaper or watching the local news can be a depressing endeavor. You are overwhelmed with negative story after negative story. The media portrays a world spinning out of control … and only getting worse.

Yet, as followers of Christ we should view the world from a different perspective. Rather than participating in reports of doom and gloom we should be praying “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Rather than being filled with fear and anxiety we should be filled with the peace and power of Jesus Christ. The world is not spinning out of control – it is spinning under the supervision of its Creator.

Don’t view the world through the lens of media reports. Rather, let’s take the advice of the Apostle Paul: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthy things (Colossians 3:2).”
