You know the Christmas story. There is no room for Joseph and Mary so they head to the stable. The baby Jesus is born and placed in a manger.
The Savior of the world was born to an unwed, teenage mother and placed in the dinner plate of the barnyard animals.
Let’s trade “Away In A Manger” for “Away in a Feeding Trough.” It gives us a better understanding of the scene. It also gives us a better understanding of the Christmas story.
God took on flesh and walked among us. God shows up in our mess. God shows up in your mess.
In Jesus we see Immanuel – God with us.
