I’m preaching through the book of Ecclesiastes.  Well, I’m preaching the 12 chapters of the book in 8 weeks.  Thus, we are not hitting every verse in worship – but we are digesting what “the preacher” has to tell us.

I’m currently preparing to preach the fourth installment of the series over Ecclesiastes 5:8-20.  I love Ecclesiastes because it provides an honest outlook on life.  No filter.

The preacher provides an honest outlook on life but it’s a life apart from Christ.  Which brings me to the point of this post …

As I read the headlines, everything from ISIS to mid-term elections, I wonder how many of the conclusions we come to are conclusions apart from Christ?  I wonder how many of the statements we make have nothing to do with the things of Christ?  I wonder how much of our lives are built on a foundation apart from Christ?

Jesus said, “Apart from me you can do nothing (John 15:5).”
