Song Worth Sharing: Hold Me Jesus

(I’ve done this before. See another one here: Paper Horses)

Rich Mullins was a vagabond prophet in sandals with a guitar slung across his shoulder. I love his songs. But I also really love Mullins cover songs.

The song I share comes from Bellsburg (The Songs of Rich Mullins). Listen to the entire album. It’s CCM at its best. Meaningful lyrics. Real instruments. Faith and beauty.

The song is a cover of “Hold Me Jesus” by Sara Groves. In my Bible study and morning run, I was gripped by the lyrics:

“And I wake up in the night and feel the dark
It’s so hot inside my soul
I swear there must be blisters on my heart”

The day after the devastating flood in the Hill Country of Central Texas, may the parents of unaccounted for children find the Prince of Peace.

  1. The lyrics of Rich Mullins’ songs resonate powerfully long after his death. Thanks for sharing this cover and for continuing prayers for those affected in the flooding.
