In August I began the spiritual discipline of daily turning a verse of Colossians into prayer form. A few weeks ago I completed the entire book of Colossians. I’ve now moved to 1 John.

Here is the my first prayer from 1 John:

God of Life,

You gave life at the beginning

And you’ve been giving life ever since.

You are Creator,

Sustainer,

Provider,

Redeemer.

You breathed life into Adam.

You breathed into us.

We proclaim you as the source of life.
