This post is the second in a new series: Sermons Worth Sharing. As I come across sermons that bless my soul, I’ll share them with you.
The second Sermon Worth Sharing was preached by Alistair Begg at George W. Truett Theological Seminary’s 2019 National Preaching Conference hosted by the First Baptist Church of Waco. Begg has been the pastor of Parkside Church near Cleveland, Ohio since 1983.
The sermon is a powerful exposition of the message of the cross and contains an all-time great sermon illustration.
I’ve loved Alistair Begg for years! Back when I had XM radio I used to listen to him almost every morning at 6:00 am while driving to work.

I really enjoyed listening to this sermon by Alistair Begg. Never heard of him because I don’t have a Baptist background, but I loved the phrase “Because the Man in the middle cross said I could come” Very clever and very true.
