Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6~7
Gospel partners pray … at all times and about everything.
Notice what this passage doesn’t say:
Only pray when you’ve run out of other options.
or
Only pray when you’ve fallen into deep trouble.
No. Gospel partners are people of prayer. And they prayer at all times and about everything.
Three reasons why people don’t pray:
#1 You don’t understand your need and inability
#2 You don’t understand God’s greatness
#3 You’ve never devoted yourself to prayer
I’m going to draw a hard line on this one. Prayer takes total immersion. Would you tell your football team to practice a few minutes a day? Would you tell your child to do a few minutes of homework? I doubt it.
People give up on prayer or never see prayer at its fullness because they only dip toes into the prayer waters. Cannon ball into prayer!
