On Sunday evening, I led our church in a Lord’s Supper Service. During my opening remarks, to prepare for the night ahead, I shared 20 reasons Jesus came to die. I’ve tweaked the list a bit and share it now.


20 Reasons Why Jesus Came to Die

  1. To achieve His own resurrection from the dead
  2. To show the depth of God’s love for sinners (like you and me)
  3. To forgive our sins
  4. To redeem us
  5. To ransom us
  6. To justify us
  7. To remove our condemnation
  8. To clear our conscience
  9. To bring us to God
  10. To reconcile us to God
  11. To break us from the bondage of sin
  12. To free us from the fear of death
  13. To make us holy
  14. To disarm the rulers and authorities
  15. To deliver us from the present evil age
  16. To complete the obedience that becomes our righteousness
  17. To rescue us from final judgment
  18. To secure our resurrection from the dead
  19. To provide us eternal life
  20. To build up His church
